CAN MY WHOLE FAMILY LEARN TOGETHER?
Family courses are exactly what you would expect, a course done privately together as a family. If you are going to enjoy Narrow boating as a family then it makes sense to learn together. We will always accommodate a family group wherever we can. A family group gets a whole boat to themselves.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE FOR RYA INLAND WATERWAYS COURSES?
The Inland waterways crew course has a minimum age of 8
The Inland waterways Helmsman course has a minimum age of 12
WHAT ARE THE PRE REQUISITES FOR A FAMILY INLAND WATERWAYS TRAINING COURSE?
- Minimum age 8.
- No experience required.
FAMILY INLAND WATERWAYS COURSE FORMAT
Over two days you and your family will learn how to drive and crew a narrow boat/river cruiser together. This can take place as own boat tuition or on our boats.
The standard course is two days. We will teach up to 4 of you per boat but are happy to set up a course with multiple boats for families of 2-9 people. Over 11s will attain the RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman and 8-11 years olds will attain the RYA Inland Waterways Crew*.

- RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman Certificate (for over 11s)

*Only 3 people can be awarded Helmsman the final person must be awarded a crew certificate regardless of age.
